Establishing a Type of Account

Since Types of Accounts can be bank-defined (1-9, A-Z), internal bank controls should be established so your staff can identify the purpose of each Type.  Your Administrator can establish descriptions (translates) for each code used so they are easier to assign.  For example, Type Code E can be assigned the description “Employee.”

The Type of Account is a required field in establishing a new account.  If a Type Code is not entered on a new account, an online message, “Type of Account is Required,” will be displayed. You will have to return to the New Account screen to enter the Type.

The Type is assigned through file maintenance:

From a Demand Deposit Account Lookup, expand Tasks menu (if needed) by clicking on the arrow in the title bar.

Select Edit this Account/Template from the Tasks menu.

Change the Type of Account on the Account Info tab Main subtab.
